Job Description

Adams & Martin Group is seeking a Legal Assistant to join a reputable law firm in Minneapolis supporting their Personal Injury practice group. This is a direct hire opportunity with an onsite.

The Legal Assistant's responsibilities include:

  • Provides skilled, proactive support to assigned personal injury attorneys, and others, as needed
  • Prepares and reviews legal documents, correspondence, medical record requests, settlement packages, and other case-related materials according to firm standards using word processing and document management systems
  • Accurately proofreads and edits documents
  • Independently performs administrative duties such as managing attorney schedules and calendars; coordinating client appointments; maintaining case files; processing incoming and outgoing correspondence; tracking deadlines; and other related tasks
  • Files documents with state and federal courts and assists with service of legal documents as required
  • Supports the billing process and assists with case expense tracking
  • Creates, maintains, and closes client files in accordance with firm policies and procedures
  • Reviews attorney emails and saves correspondence and documents to the appropriate client file as requested
  • Requests, organizes, and maintains medical records, accident reports, insurance information, and other case-related documentation
  • Exhibits outstanding client service orientation in greeting guests, scheduling meetings, and communicating with clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and other parties
  • Displays strong attention to detail
  • Responds to requests with a sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Maintains confidentiality of client matters and sensitive information
  • Clearly communicates in a concise, professional manner

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of legal assistant experience strongly preferred; personal injury experience is a plus
  • Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office programs; desire to maintain and upgrade technical skills and learn new software
  • Experience managing high-volume case files and coordinating with clients, medical providers, and insurance carriers preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
